ABOUT ALYSSA ANTHONY PHOTOGRAPHY
For as long as I can remember, I have been taking photos. It started in the early '90s with the flat, 110-format Kodaks, complete with tall bulbs that gave a limited number of flashes. This continued into my early digital camera days and the darkroom in high school with a 35mm film camera. My first job out of college, despite having a degree in Communication Studies, was with a photobooth company.
Fast forward to the smartphone era, as iPhones gained traction and popularity, I coveted the ability to snap a photo anywhere and anytime I wanted. This is what led me to my work in social media and digital marketing—documenting food, homemade recipes, and consumer packaged goods. As the need grew in my work, I picked up DSLR cameras, and the rest is history.
For the past 10 years, I have been honing my skills across a variety of genres, from product and still life photography to headshot photography, family photography, and branding photography. With each type of photo, I have fine-tuned my skills and learned even more about the art of capturing it all behind the lens. From everyday things and finding beauty in the mundane, to once-in-a-lifetime moments and family memories that will be shared for generations.
Located in sunny St. Petersburg, FL, my focus is on capturing photos of you and your people (or pets!), whoever they may be. Whether you're looking for professional headshots, branding photos for yourself or your business, family photos, beach vacation photos, or engagement photos, I aim to deliver photographs that tell your stories.
My style is a mix of traditional posed with editorial incorporated as much as possible — I'll happily get some posed, looking at the camera shots, however, I really enjoy letting my subjects move, interact, play, and generally live, while I snap away on the other side of the camera. My editing style is warm, and pretty true to life, without heavy filtering or photoshopping, so that the photos feel like a true reflection of you. See my portfolio for examples of my work.
I’m excited to meet you and help craft the photos of your dreams.
xo, Alyssa
CORE VALUES
A Safe Space for All — I value working and collaborating with individuals and families of all kinds and respecting your culture, background, sexuality, race, and religion, is of the utmost importance to me. If any of these are something you want to be expressed visually in your session, let’s talk about how we can best tell the story you want to share.
Transparency — Booking precious memories shouldn’t be a chore. I prioritize making this process as easy as possible for you and providing you with all the information you need to be comfortable heading into and out of our work together.
Authenticity — I don’t rely on over-editing, heavy filtering, or artificial modifications that make your photos look like they aren’t you. I want the editing to stand the test of time and not follow current trends so closely they feel out of date in coming years.
Creativity — Because stale is boring, I love to try new things, explore new styles, and evolve as a creative.
THE PROCESS
Booking a photographer is a big choice. And it can be not very clear. I’m here to keep it simple for you. After all, it shouldn’t feel like a chore to do something fun like taking photos. Here’s a quick rundown of how my process works:
1. Booking Inquiry: You reach out to me, explain that you’re “looking for photos for X, Y, or Z” and are wondering how I can help.
2. Information Gathering: I’m excited to get your email! I’ll ask some questions to try and learn a bit more about what your goals are, and what vibe you’re trying to capture, and dig into some of the details like location, time, outfit ideas, and all that fun stuff.
3, Pricing and Packages: After we agree on the type of session we want to create together, I’ll send over my simple, straightforward pricing and a clear explanation of what you’ll get. We’ll sign a few forms to make it official!
4. Shoot time: We’ll get together, chat a bit, and get comfortable, then we’ll have a lot of fun taking photos.
5. Editing and Delivery: We’ll go our separate ways (with plans to hopefully meet again in the future!) and I’ll start digging into editing your photos! I don’t rely on over-editing, heavy filtering, or artificial modifications that make your photos look like they aren’t you. I tend to edit on the warm side and go for a sunny, true-to-life, cozy vibe in general. Once I’m all finished, they’re all yours! You can download the photos to any and all of your devices and have prints created from your preferred print studio.
